Michael Myers – Halloween The Movie

Michael Myers Halloween Masks

In case you have been living in a vacuum for the last 30 years Michael Myers is the scary and evil character in all of the Halloween films, except for Halloween III: Season of the Witch. That film did not have any of the characters from the original two films and didn’t have anything to do with Michael Myers. However Michael did manage to return in the next film which was named Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. Pretty scary stuff especially as a child growing up during those times. I remember thinking of ways to kill him so that he stayed dead. Back in the day that was a scary movie. I must have checked all the rooms in the house at least twice. Pretty stupid I know but that was a scary movie for us back then.

The original Halloween was made back in 1978. The story was about a six-year old Michael Myers played by (Will Sandin) who murders his older sister Judith (Sandy Johnson) on Halloween. The story takes place fifteen years later, when Michael who is played by (Nick Castle) finds a way to break out of the Smith’s Grove Sanitarium he returns to his hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois. He then stalks his babysitter played by (Jamie Lee Curtis).

The psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis was played by (Donald Pleasence). He was brilliant in the role. The casting was terriffic. Dr. Loomis is trying to find Michael Myers throughout the movie to eradicate him once and for all. Michael manages to kill off almost everyone in the movie at least it seems that way before he finally attacks the babysitter. She however is successful in fighting him off until Dr. Loomis jumps in to save her. If you haven’t seen the end of the movie I won’t ruin it for you. I don’t know about you but Michael Myers seems like he is more of a monster than anything. He can’t be killed. He never stays dead. What’s ups with this guy. This is a great movie to watch on Halloween.

The Michael Myers Mask slash costume oops there I go again slash (pun) sorry. But the Michael costume is still a very popular Halloween costume. That white mask still manages to scare me no matter how many times I see it. Even if it’s not on Halloween. This makes a great costume. Most everyone has heard of Michael Myers. Awesome idea for a costume. About the only expense for this costume is the mask and a fake kitchen knife. Just wear a black jumper or something like it. Here’s a nice site for other crazy Halloween costume ideas.

New Horror Movies – Be Very Scared of the New Horror Movies

Every once in a while there will be something written about the horror movie genre fading away due to lack of an audience. The recent success of horror films such as the newly released remake of the classic Friday the 13th and this spring’s popular horror film Haunting in Connecticut, have proven that the horror genre is alive and well and that new horror movies will continue to turn a profit.

While movie audiences await the arrival of such anticipated movies as Star Trek and Transformers 2, they have been passing the time seeing the new horror movies that have been released so far this year and the response has been very positive. The Haunting in Connecticut is joined by Last House on the Left (a remake of a 1974 Wes Craven classic) in scaring audiences into giving up the money for another ticket to see each movie again.

Last year audiences flocked to see the remake of Halloween, and the response was so overwhelmingly positive that a sequel has been given the green light and now H2 – Halloween 2 is a highly anticipated horror movie set to be released in August of 2009. With Rob Zombie directing the sequel just as he did the original, many fans are anticipating the new detail that will be revealed about the story of famed movie serial killer Michael Meyers.

New horror movies made a comeback with the release of the first Saw movie in 2004. Ever since that first release, the Saw franchise has single handedly revived an entire movie genre through its own success. To this point the producers of Saw have said that the classic horror franchise is done, but with fans clamoring for another Saw movie it may not be long before we hear that Saw 6 is in production and ready to come to a theater near you.
