New Horror Movies – Be Very Scared of the New Horror Movies

Every once in a while there will be something written about the horror movie genre fading away due to lack of an audience. The recent success of horror films such as the newly released remake of the classic Friday the 13th and this spring’s popular horror film Haunting in Connecticut, have proven that the horror genre is alive and well and that new horror movies will continue to turn a profit.

While movie audiences await the arrival of such anticipated movies as Star Trek and Transformers 2, they have been passing the time seeing the new horror movies that have been released so far this year and the response has been very positive. The Haunting in Connecticut is joined by Last House on the Left (a remake of a 1974 Wes Craven classic) in scaring audiences into giving up the money for another ticket to see each movie again.

Last year audiences flocked to see the remake of Halloween, and the response was so overwhelmingly positive that a sequel has been given the green light and now H2 – Halloween 2 is a highly anticipated horror movie set to be released in August of 2009. With Rob Zombie directing the sequel just as he did the original, many fans are anticipating the new detail that will be revealed about the story of famed movie serial killer Michael Meyers.

New horror movies made a comeback with the release of the first Saw movie in 2004. Ever since that first release, the Saw franchise has single handedly revived an entire movie genre through its own success. To this point the producers of Saw have said that the classic horror franchise is done, but with fans clamoring for another Saw movie it may not be long before we hear that Saw 6 is in production and ready to come to a theater near you.
