Direct TV Deals Compared to Cable
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on June 10th, 2009
We have been wanting to get rid of Comcast basic cable for a long time. The issue is they give you a great combo with their bundles that include telepone, high speed internet, and cable TV service. When customers want to disconnect one, you miss out on the discounts of the bundle.
But the cable TV service just has to go, as the channel selection and quality is below average. There is so much talk today about HD, there just wasn’t much selection with Charter cable television. So I started researching who else was providing service in my neck of the woods.
I am fortunate to be one of the individuals who have been given a few options. Unlike some subscribers who can only pick from just the cable company or Direct TV satellite service, I have a third provider in this region. The phone company in this area has been altering the telephone network. So there is an additional consideration with Verizon and their FiOS service.
That doesn’t of course mean I won’t have the same issues. It would place me in the same boat as with the cable television company, because phone guys want me to bundle their TV service with high speed and voice service. If the service works out well, I’ll be satisfied. But if its not you’re in the same situation that we all hate, being stuck with cable TV that isn’t all that great.
Some evaluations I found on the internet are fairly good on telecom television service. Of course it is new, there is sometimes a risk with a new technology like this, and some people share their poor reviews. Some of those reviews are the funny, simply for the reason people make the decision to write a dissertation on their poor experience and post it on the world wide web. They badmouth the company like it is some giant conspiracy to make the customer unhappy, as if the corporation does not want our money!
Another option I am seriously considering is of course satellite TV. Since we have four TV viewers in the home, we have subscribed in the past to a high end TV bundle. The satellite TV choices seem to be pretty even, as the DirecTV Premier package and the DISH Network America’s everything package are both right around $115 a month. Yes that’s fairly high for pay television, but when you compare that to treating your family to dinner and a trip to the movies, it really isn’t all that much. Some in my family speak Spanish, so the DIRECTV Mas bundle looks like a winner. The good thing is that there are lots of DirecTV pros and cons to help me decide which direction to take.
